Can Fittings Be Removed On JR Products Automatic Changeover 2-Stage Propane Regulator

Updated 06/27/2026 | Published 06/23/2026

Question:

On your 2 stage regulators , can you take the two 1/4 inch fittings off ? Mine does not have these fittings and is plumbed in direct with the two hoses . I have a 2024 Chaparral 5th wheel

Hey Donaldo! The JR Products Automatic Changeover 2-Stage Propane Regulator # 37207-30395 uses 1/4" Inverted flare inlet x 3/8" FPT outlet connections. These brass inlet adapters are removable so you could connect your hoses directly.

Any big trips coming up with your Chaparral?

@RobinH , Do you make propane hoses or have them in stock , that fit the fittings that come with the 2 stage regulators . I have to take the fittings off , as I stated before , but the fittings have a check valve . Am I hurting the system or the regulator by plumbing direct . Also as I look at various two stage regulators with pig tails , they are set up for travel trailers not 5th wheels .

@Donald removing those inlet fittings won't hurt the regulator or affect its operation. The check valves are there to help prevent propane from escaping if a hose is disconnected, but they aren't required for the regulator to function properly. We do carry replacement propane pigtail hoses in several lengths, I linked all of our hoses below. If you're looking for a horizontal regulator instead, we also have the JR Products # 37207-30375.

I installed this regulator on my 2022 Airstream Globetrotter and couldn't be happier with it. It easily supplies enough propane to run the stove, the onboard Onan generator, and the tankless water heater simultaneously without any issues. The only minor challenge was the installation. I had to add a few spacers behind the mounting bracket to move the regulator slightly farther away from the propane bottles so the supply hoses would clear the tanks properly. Other than that, installation was straightforward, and it has performed flawlessly. Highly recommended.

JR Products Automatic Changeover 2-Stage Propane Regulator has removable fittings. I installed one on my Grand Design 2021 396MS. It was a direct replacement of the original which was acting up. I added a Tee on the outlet line with a shut off valve which will be used to supply my Blackstone Grill. All ancillary fittings and hoses I purchased from Flame King. I have quick connects for the hoses and a fitting to connect directly to the grill. If you have any plumbing skills at all, it's a simple replacement. Just be sure to leak test all fittings with soapy water before using.
