Best Replacement For Jensen RV Stereo AWM970

Question:
Hello, I have a Jensen AWM970 unit currently and am looking to replace it with a more modern unit that has Bluetooth and would pretty much be plug and play without running a bunch of new wiring. Can you please advise on what some options would be.

Hey Joseph, thanks for reaching out. The Jensen RV Stereo # JEN43YR is definitely the replacement I'd look at first for your AWM970. It gives you Bluetooth connectivity along with the modern features most folks are after, and it's designed specifically for RV use. The one thing to be aware of is that Jensen changed the wiring on the newer radios, so it isn't considered a true plug-and-play swap. The existing speaker wiring can typically be reused, but you'll need to adapt the harness connections to match the new unit.
The good news is that you're not usually looking at running new speaker wires throughout the RV or doing major modifications. Most of the work is at the back of the radio connecting the new harness to the existing wiring. Depending on how your current stereo is mounted, you may also need to make minor adjustments to the mounting opening or trim bezel to get everything looking clean and factory installed. The # JEN43YR requires a 9-5/16" wide x 6-1/8" tall x 1-5/16" deep cutout.
