Hi Tim,
For a 2" hitch ball cover we have the Fastway Trailer Hitch Ball Cover w/Tether part # FA82-00-3220. It easily slips over the hitch ball and has integrated fins and tabs to help grip the ball. When the hitch ball is in use, it has a built-in tether so that it can hang from the ball, so the cover doesn't get lost. It is specifically designed to fit 2" hitch balls so you won't have any fitment issues.
What do you usually tow with a 2" hitch ball?

I have this product. It fits my 2-inch ball just fine. Keeps the ball grease off my hands. Inexpensive but has served me well over the past year.

I was only able to use it for a week before the tether broke off from the cover. After that happened I find the product to be inferior. I paid $10 to $12 dollars for it and I wasn’t going to pay to get it replaced.

The cover is as expected. Covers the 2"ball well when I am not towing and I store it in the RV when I am towing. This reduced the ware on my ball and hitch since I could grease it appropriately and not have a mess when I am not using ball.

I purchased the ball cover and tether. I do not use the tether. Instead, when the hitch ball is installed, I place the cover in a compartment on my truck. I only use the cover when I remove the hitch from the receiver and store it in another compartment on my truck. The cover prevents grease from smearing on everything in the storage compartment. And it keeps the ball lubricated for easy connection with the trailer.

Tim, this hitch ball cover works wonders. No more grease on my pants from accidentally bumping into the ball. I store the cover in the top ring of the propane tank as it fits nicely between the ring and the valve so it stays out until we are ready to hit the road again.
