Looking For A-Frame Style Tow Bar That Attaches To A Clevis Hitch Instead Of A Ball Mount

Published 06/10/2026

Question:

Roadmaster Tracker Tow Bar - Coupler Style for 2 Ball - 5,000 lbs Hi - Do you have an A frame style like this but with a 2 sq hitch or a clevis hitch instead of the ball mount hitch? Or another small frame for an industrial oil cart to be pulled by a golf cart with a clevis mount. Please help! Thanks - Dan

Hey Dan, thanks for reaching out. Virtually all of the tow bars we offer and for a 2" hitch, with the exception being those A-frame style tow bars. All of the A-frame bars we have are coupler style, but we do have one "A-frame" style tow bar that has a lunette ring. Take a look at the following:

- Roadmaster StowMaster Tow Bar - 2-1/2" Lunette Ring - Car Mount - 6,000 lbs # RM-581

This has a 2-1/2" lunette ring on the end, and it's designed to attach to a Roadmaster crossbar-style base plate. You might need to get creative and come up with a way to bolt it onto your oil cart, but this will be your best bet if you need something that can attach to a clevis mount. That or you'll have to go with a tow bar for a 2" hitch receiver.

Where will you be towing the oil cart with the golf cart most often?

Hi Jesse - That's my son's name. This oil cart will primarily be used for transferring oil through out a paper mill behind a golf cart. mostly indoor smooth, some outside, industrial setting, estimated oil cart weighs 1000 pounds fully dressed. The cart will go up and down slightly graded ramps. The carts have welded clevis pin mounts on the bottom bumper of the "golf" carts. Cost is always a factor so i'm looking for something I can bolt up to the oil cart, and they requested an A frame style. I only need about 24" of distance from the back end of the 28" oil cart to the clevis pin mount. I'd like to have some height adjustability for the connection if possible. I would appreciate any Ideas you may have. I'm a bit out of my knowledge realm when specifying these, so I appreciate any kind of a lead to get what I need. Thank You. Dan

@DanF Hey what a coincidence! That's my dad's sons name too! haha Anyways, I'm afraid there really isn't an off-the-shelf product for this. One of those coupler-style tow bars like the Roadmaster # RM-020 could work. You'd have to come up with a way to bolt the brackets to the oil cart, then find a way to add a standard 2" hitch receiver/ball to the golf cart. We do have some fabrication parts like # 337RT25818B that could work for that, but you'd have to weld a hitch onto the golf cart. If you can find a way to do that, we could do an adjustable height ball mount and probably make that setup work. It really sounds like some degree of creativity/modification is going to be required here no matter what. That StowMaster tow bar I mentioned is an option too, but it is 33"-40" long and it isn't exactly cost-friendly. I feel like that would be the option that requires the least amount of modification, but it also might be overkill for this project.
