Thanks for reaching out, Richard.

We may have a gas strut that will work for you, but it won’t be an exact replacement for the Carefree part.

One option is the Lippert Replacement Gas Strut # LC260282. It’s rated for 124-144 lbs, has an extended length of 24", a compressed length of 15", and uses eyelet-style ends. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find the dimensions of the original Carefree strut, so I can’t say for sure whether this one will fit your application.

I also saw that you were looking at the JR Products Gas Shock # 372-2300-150. While it is rated for the same 150 lbs as your current strut, it’s not specifically designed for awning applications. It’s also shorter, with an extended length of 20" and a compressed length of 11.41". In addition, it uses 10mm ball sockets instead of eyelets, so it likely wouldn’t be a direct fit.

If you can get me the extended and compressed lengths of your current strut (eye let to eyelet), I can compare them and let you know if the Lippert strut would be a good replacement.

@ColetteM That's awesome! Do you have a Solera awning or another brand on your Winebago?
