Will Thule Stacker Kayak Carrier Fit a Malone Roof Rack and Hold 4 Kayaks
Question:
I have a 50inch universal rack from Malone. Im wondering if I can use that for 4 single kayaks. 1. Would it be wide enough? If not, how much width would I need in my cross bars to accommodate four typical recreational kayaks? 2. Will this fit on the rectangular shape of the Malone bars? 3. I suspect four kayaks may be over the weight limit of my existing rack... in which case Id need an economical replacement....

It all depends on the height of each of the kayaks. You would have to line them all up on their sides and measure the overall width at the center. If greater than 50 inches you would be limited to 3 kayaks more than likely.
There is also the weight issue. I do not know what the capacity is of your Malone roof rack so you would need to check that versus the weight of all 4 kayaks. Also you will need to consult the vehicle owners manual and/or manufacturer for the weight carrying capacity of the roof. It is likely that the vehicle roof capacity is lower than the roof rack capacity so switching to a different roof rack would not necessarily help.
I am certain that the Thule Stacker # TH830 will fit the Malone crossbars. I have linked a video review of this carrier for you.
