Question:

Hello, I have an enclosed trailer that has a 50 amp shore power set up that runs four shop style lights and three 110v outlets. When I was sold this power option it was never expressed to me that I could not use the interior lights installed from the factory unless it was hooked to either shore power via generator, or home utility. Really not a safe or ideal situation when trying to load/unload ORVs at night in the wild. What can I do to make the interior lights operate while its hooked to my tow vehicle?

Hey David. To power your enclosed trailer's shop lights off of your tow vehicle's battery, I recommend the Go Power Heavy-Duty Modified Sine Wave Inverter item # 34280175. This inverter is going to connect directly to your tow vehicle's battery with the included cables. You can even use this with your trailer's battery if it has one. The Go Power Inverter item # 34280175 has two 115v outlets you'll be able to plug your lights into.

If your trailer's lights are wired directly to the 50 amp shore power setup, I recommend installing a couple 12v lights like the LED RV Utility Light item # DG52529VP. You can wire this light directly to the 12v accessory circuit on your trailer's 7-way connector and power the lights that way from your truck. The item # DG52529VP is sold individually, has a built in On/Off switch, 50 LEDs, and measures 14-1/8" long x 3-11/16" tall x 3/4" deep.
