Easy To Use Air Conditioning Unit For RV That Doesn't Use Thermostat Or Remote

Published 05/12/2026

Question:

We use our camper mostly for dog shows, and I need the AC to be simple enough that my wife can turn it on without messing with a thermostat menu. Which one has the easiest controls?

Hey Warren! For simple controls, I’d look at the Furrion Chill HE # FR75TD. It’s a complete 15,000 Btu manual system, so the controls are right on the ceiling air distribution box instead of on a wall thermostat. That makes it a nice option when you just want straightforward cooling: turn the knobs, set the airflow, and go. That also means easier install since no thermostat wiring.

It also includes a start capacitor, which helps the compressor start more smoothly. If you ever want a little electric heat for cool mornings, you can add the Furrion heat strip # FR35SR. Is your current AC ducted through ceiling vents, Warren, or does it blow straight down?
