Can I Add Second AC Unit To My Fifth Wheel RV Without Connecting To Main AC System?

Published 05/12/2026

Question:

I want to add a second AC over the bedroom in my fifth wheel. I don’t need it connected to the main living room AC - I just want to control it separately. Would the Furrion FR75TD work for that?

Hey Nadia! Yes, the Furrion Chill HE # FR75TD would be a good option for a separate second AC setup because it’s a complete manual-control system. It includes the 15,000 Btu rooftop unit and the matching air distribution box, so you’d control it right from the ceiling assembly instead of tying it into your existing wall thermostat.

You’ll want to make sure that bedroom location is framed for a standard AC opening and has the proper 115V wiring in place. The built-in start capacitor is a nice plus too, since it helps the compressor start more smoothly. Is your bedroom already prepped for a second AC, Nadia?

Also, just in case you were wondering, there are ways to connect a second AC unit to the old one via a multi-system thermostat, but it doesn't work with all types of AC systems; it gets a little tricky trying to do that!
