Question:
Do I need to add a soft start to the GE 15K ductless system, or is it ready to install as-is?

Hey Eliana! The GE Appliances Deluxe Plus # GE34RR is ready as a complete ductless system, so you’ll get the rooftop unit, air distribution box, thermostat, and controls together. For a normal shore-power setup, I’d start with the system as designed and make sure the RV has the proper electrical circuit for it.
That said, if you’ve had startup issues with previous ACs or you usually run from a smaller generator - around 3,500 watts or less - then adding a soft start is a smart move. The SoftStartRV Soft Start for Single Zone Air Conditioner Setup # SSR54FR helps reduce the startup surge when the compressor kicks on, which is usually the hardest part for a generator to handle.
The big reason to choose # GE34RR is that it gives you 15,000 Btu of cooling plus a built-in heat pump in one ductless kit. What are you planning to power it with most often, Eliana - campground hookups or a generator?
