Question:
I have a triple axle trailer with brakes on the forward and aft axles only. I have drum brakes. The boat weighs 5 tons. This is a 1990s trailer and the rusty lines look original so I figured Id better replace them- brake fluid is thick and color of rich coffee. From the surge master cylinder there is a 165inch run to the first T near the first axel. The brake line runs from the left side to right side of the trailer are 68inch for either axle. Looks like my runs are a bit less then what I find in your kits. For the first run I mentioned, thats 25. What would I do with the excess line in you kit? I do have a double flare kit but I havent worked with cutting and forming SS tubing. Thanks for your help.

Hey Dean. To shorten the lines on the Demco Hydraulic Brake Line Kit for Tandem Axle Trailers item # DM5403 you'll need a tubing cutter to make a straight clean cut, a deburring tool or file to remove any burrs from the inside and outside of the cut tube, and your double flare kit.
If you do not have a tube cutter then I recommend checking with an auto parts store. Most auto parts store will allow you to rent these tools for free. You may want to look into getting a tubing bender or brake line bending pliers as well.
Do you usually launch in salt or fresh water and what kind of boat do you have?
