Do Frame Holes of 2022 Buick Encore Need to be Enlarged to Install Curt Hitch

Question:

for 2022 buick encore preferred Not Gx is there some filing i will need to do ? are there likely threaded holes for the vertical application or likely need anchor there too? how much weigh including the bikes and bike holder can it hold and i think buick says no towing, correct ? thank you !

Hey Mic, yes there are some holes that will need to be enlarged to install the Curt hitch part # C11527 on your 2022 Buick Encore. There are some threaded holes you will use to mount the hitch as well as some that will need to have bolts fishwired through frame to attach.

This has a tongue weight capacity of 200 lbs so the combined weight of your bikes and bike rack would need to weigh less than that.

Your 2022 Buick Encore is rated to tow up to 1,000 lbs. Are you planning on doing any towing?

thank you, I did watch the video for the 2021, and they did not need to enlarge the holes. I have gone and checked. I do have the threaded holes on both sides for the vertical mounts so you’re saying that the feeding hole where you pull away the brake line that would need to be enlarged or the hole that it comes back down through? The holes look similar in size to the 2021 which you guys did not have to shave down, but I think you’re saying I have to shave them down. ?

@MicD i think you'd be fine not having to enlarge them then. Sometimes vehicles are quirky and not all of them will require the same modifications to install a hitch. This is especially true for this one step on enlarging holes or not.
