This is a great question Charlie, I can help!

For the hybrid models like your 2013 RAV4, the black power wire on the Curt 4-pole wiring harness # C56350 will connect the same way a standard gas vehicle would.

Here's what you'll do:

Route the black wire from the converter box up to the engine bay
Connect it to the positive (+) post of the 12V battery
Make sure the inline fuse is installed close to the battery
You won't be connecting anything to the hybrid battery system.

For my 2016 RAV4 Hybrid Limited, the 12v battery is actually in the rear cargo area, which makes it even easier!

@SamW that’s a great point! On some RAV4 Hybrid models, the 12V battery is located in the rear cargo area. Appreciate you sharing that detail for those who could be working on a similar setup!
