Hi Michael, great question!

I definitely want to make sure you have a setup that works smoothly. The EcoHitch that fits your BMW i3 is part # 306-X7277 like you mentioned, and it uses a standard 2 inch receiver. At this time, we do not have an EU-style tow ball that will mount directly into a 2 inch receiver like this. Most EU ball mounts are designed for specific hitches or a 1-1/4 inch hitch, which unfortunately is not available for the i3.

What I can do is get you set up with a standard US ball mount that will work properly with this hitch. A solid option is the TowSmart BAJA ball mount, part # TS27VR, which includes a pre-installed 2 inch ball and offers a 4" rise to help with ground clearance. It also included a locking pin and features a sleek X-Shape shank that drains moisture to prevent rust.

To make sure it tows level, you would measure from the ground to the top of your hitch opening, then from the ground to the bottom of your trailer coupler when it is level. The difference between those two measurements tells us exactly how much rise or drop you need.

Once we confirm your coupler size and those measurements, we can make sure everything lines up cleanly so you are not second guessing anything when you hook up.
