Difficulty Hooking on Bottom Trunk Mount Bike Rack Straps to Truck or Hatch
Published 07/11/2014 >
Question:
Hello, my trunk is so tight there is not enough space for the hooks to fit at the bottom of the trunk lid for my 2007 Infinity G35. Attaching these hooks under the bumper is not an option because it is very soft and will pucker the bumper. I need a solution! Please help.

This is a common issue on many vehicles. I have this same problem on my car and my wife's SUV. There is a very easy solution and a couple of things you can try. First, you may be able to start the lower strap hooks off o the side and work them down into position on the lower lip of the trunk.
The other way is to open the trunk slightly, slip one hook on and tighten the strap, then repeat with the other one, and then firmly shut the trunk. That is how I have to do it on my car. Works well. I have included a link to the right to another question and answer in which there is a video, featuring yours truly showing how these methods work.
