Looking For Complete AC System For Older Camper 5th Wheel Trailer That Had Ducted Vents

Published 04/27/2026

Question:

I have an older fifth wheel with ceiling vents, and I’m trying to decide if I should go back with 13.5K or move up to 15K. It’s around 31 feet and we mostly camp in the South. What would you recommend?

Hey Chris, for a 31-foot fifth wheel in the South, I’d lean toward a 15,000 Btu system, and in this group that would push more toward the Roughneck Mach 15 # CM65RR if you want the extra cooling capacity. If your old unit struggled in summer heat, moving up makes sense.

Since you mentioned ceiling vents, it sounds like you have a ducted setup, and these Coleman kits are for ducted RV systems only. If your old unit kept up pretty well and you’re just trying to make a smart replacement, the Signature Mach 3 # CM95RR could still do the job.

These units are the heavy duty Roughneck lineup, which are built for off-road rough usage. What model RV do you have and what is the old ac unit?
