Availability of Storage Compartment Latch Fitting 2.5" x 2.75" Cutout

Question:
I would like to replace the storage compartment slam latch on my 2024 Rockwood minilite 2518s. I have been unable to find a match. The opening in my rv is 2.5 x 2.75 but every latch that the internet suggests is 2.75 x 2.75. I would prefer to not modify the rv. If I sell it, I would like to put the original equipment back on.

Hi Douglas; I don't know of a latch that will fit that exact cutout. The closest we have is the Global Link Versa Pro Mini # GL25VR with the same 2.75" x 2.75" cutout requirement you found elsewhere. If you don't want to enlarge the opening another 0.25" I would try calling Rockwood to see if they know what latch was used on that trailer. An exact match from that brand is likely the only option.
What happened to the original latch?

There is nothing wrong with the original latch. I am trying to make my compartment as secure as possible. It is my understanding that all rvs use one of five keys. I would prefer a lock with an independent key.

These latches are terrific! Easy to install and fast entry. They are a better locking latch for security compared to the small key entry ones that were on my GEO PRO 19FD. The newer Geo Pros come with the paddle latches now.
