Can I Use a Velit 2000R Mini 12V AC Unit To Replace a Powered Vent in a Tiffen Phaeton MH

Updated 04/22/2026 | Published 04/16/2026

Question:

Can I replace my power vent in my Tiffen Phaeton MH with the VE69QV ? Will there be an issue with the drain that comes with your unit and can the existing wiring handle the AC? The kitchen area inside my MH has problems cooling down in the hot southern area we live in and your 12v system looks like a perfect solution, I wont have to upgrade the generator since your system is 12V. Thank you ahead of time for your assistance.

Hey Chuck, that’s a really great question.

For what you’re trying to do, keeping the kitchen area cooler, the Velit 2000R Mini AC # VE69QV is a solid option and a great fit for that space.

As far as replacing your existing power vent, this unit is designed to fit a standard 14" x 14" roof opening, which is what most RV vents use.

On the electrical side, since this is a 12V system, it won’t require a generator upgrade like a traditional AC would. That said, these units do draw a fair amount of current still, around 60–80 amps while running, so you’ll want to make sure your existing power set up is adequate for that kind of load.

As for the drain, once the unit is properly installed, it’s designed to handle condensation on its own. There aren’t any special installation steps or drain lines required. The unit allows condensation to either evaporate or run off onto the roof, which is normal for this style of rooftop AC.

Are you full time in one spot or travel around in the southern US?

Thank you for your response, it was very helpful. I am not a full timer and we mostly camp in State and Corp parks so my onboard charging system should be able to handle the 12v system as it won’t be running consistently, just during the hottest times of the day. You’ve definitely given me something to think about out with your informative answer, thank you again.

@ChuckR I definitely agree with you. Sounds like you will be able to handle the Velit just fine. One of my coworkers has this in their camper van and it's really quiet so you wont have to talk over it at all.
