Question:

The description / FEATURES states Refreshes automatically with new tire information every 5 minutes. Does this mean if I have a blow-out it could take up to 5 minutes before the display alarm is sounded?

No, it does not Joe. The Color Monitor for TST TPMS Systems item # TST-507-D-C is going to notify you immediately if there's a sudden drop in tire pressure. It's called the Out Of Parameter Alert. A bright icon will flash as soon as the tire pressure drops along with an alarm sounding. The 5 minute refresh just updates the tire pressure under normal driving conditions.

What kind of trailer do you have?

I had an RV without TPMS as standard equipment. After some research I found a TST product that is installed on the rims this was needed as it was a dully. I programmed all six sensor to the TST 507 to provide an early warning of a tire related problem. On gaining experience and knowledge I was able to set pressure and temperature limits as Identified by the TST 507. An added benefit to this unit is the trailer option this I used to display the tire pressures of a towed vehicle a four door Jeep Wrangler, this was fitted with the TST stem pressure sensors. This whole setup performed flawlessly and allowed me to monitor all ten wheels under different driving conditions within parameters set by me providing an advanced warning of any likely problem. A great product which I've recommended to other RV operators.

I purchased the monitor as I had purchased a new to me Tiffin 32Br motorhome. The sensors were already on the tires so why not have a monitor. The monitor saved me a great deal as one of the tires went very low and the warning came on to give me a chance to stop. Luckily the problem was the shader valve and I was on my way within an hour. Great setup!!!

I've never experience a blowout so I cannot answer the question directly. I can say the pressure updates pretty rapidly (5-20 seconds) as the tires warm up and the pressure increases. I would expect a slow leak to register quickly and a blow out to register quickly as well. It does take about 2-4 minutes for the system to get all the pressures when it is started up.

I have saved multiple tires being alerted immediately of a “Fast Leak” so I didn’t drive on them low as soon as got a leak.
