Looking For Axle Flip Kit For 1965 Streamline Empress With Double 3" Axles

Updated 04/07/2026 | Published 04/06/2026

Question:

Good morning I have a 1965 Streamline Empress with double 3” axles. I would like to flip them so that the axles are on the street side I would like the extra height. Are there any dangers associated with this? The trailer also has the MoRide system on the suspension. Could you recommend one that doesn’t require welding. Ty

Hey Skip, thanks for reaching out. The best way to do that is with an over-under kit. We have one for a 3" round tube leaf spring axle part # K71-385-00. This will allow you to flip the axle and move the leaf spring pack to the top of the axle. It will lift the deck height by 3" plug the thickness of the spring pack. Definitely the best way to achieve this without any welding or modification.

That said, lifting the trailer with an over-under kit is considered safe and there are no real dangers involved. The trailers center of weight will be a bit higher, but you wouldn't be lifting it enough to create any instability. We have people use these kits all the time without issue.

Keep in mind you will need one kit per axle.

Does the trailer ride pretty low right now? Have you run into spots where it scrapes.
