Question:

Hi there, It looks like the below wiring for a 2013 X5 35d seems to have vanished. Are these coming back soon? I wanted that option as I wouldnt have to splice into the wiring. Thanks! 2013 BMW X5 ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit

Hey Erik. The only wiring harness currently available for your 2013 BMW X5 is the Curt item # C59236. This is a universal wiring harness that will need to be spliced into your X5's tail light wires. It will provide you with a 4-way connector capable of controlling your trailer or accessories lighting functions.

We actually installed the Curt item # C59236 on a 2013 BMW X5. I linked the installation video below so you can see how to get it setup.

The ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness is sold out and we do not expect to get anymore in. Tekonsha's parent company First Brands is going through a massive fraud investigation while also filing for bankruptcy. We're not getting any Tekonsha parts in at this time and don't expect to until the litigation is resolved.

What are you needing a wiring harness for? Are you towing a trailer or adding lights to something?

So I did just wire my BMW trailer lights and I can tell you that having the battery in the back made the process a bit smoother. I suggest using the ZCI like Erik said if possible if not your going to want to get a voltmeter and measure 12 volts out of each wire so you know exactly what color wire is going to get scotchlocked to the trailer harness. I.e if you have your left turn signal on make sure you measure 12v from the wire and so on. I would verify this by color and write it down clearly as some of the wires are yellow blue or blue yellow which look very very similar. When you use those scotchlocks be very very careful before crimping also. As long as you have all your wires lined up and your ground you need to heat shrink crimp your in line fuse. It's not a difficult job just takes some thinking. Let me know if you need more help.
