Best Roof Rack For Thule Hullavator On 2024 Acura RDX

Updated 04/06/2026 | Published 03/28/2026

Question:

Hello, I am looking at the Thule hullivator for my 2024 Acura RDX to carry kayaks. I need racks also. But it does not look like the racks are long enough to meet the overhang requirements for the hullivator ? Even 60” seems to short. Recommendations ? Thanks, Geoff

Hello Geoffrey, thanks for reaching out. You are on the right track here. On your 2024 Acura RDX a 60" bar would be cutting it close. We can do a roof rack with a longer bar; we would just have to part it out separately instead of doing a full kit which is not a problem at all.

Does your RDX have the factory roof rails running from front to back? Or is it a naked roof?

Let me know and I am happy to send you parts list with everything you need.

For an example, if you have a naked roof, here is what I recommend:

- Custom DK Fit Kit for 4 Rhino-Rack 2500 Series Roof Rack Legs - Naked Roof # DK337

- Rhino-Rack 2500 Series Legs for Sportz Crossbars - Naked Roofs or Fixed Mounting Points - Qty 4 # RRRLKVA

- Rhino-Rack Sportz Aero Crossbar - Aluminum - Black - 65" Long - Qty 2 # RR85AG

That will make up the complete roof rack with 65" bars that will have enough overhang for the Hullavator # TH898.

What kind of kayak do you have? Where do you paddle most?

Thanks for the details. I do have a naked roof on the RDX. The kayak is a wilderness systems tarpon 14’ SUP, ~70lbs. For the parts you kid out how easy is it to get the rack/mounts on and off the roof. I have a low garage and will need to mount and dismount the rack with each use.

@GeoffreyK Ok perfect the Rhino Rack I mentioned will be a great fit then. As far as removing the rack, its not terribly difficult. There is an Allen wrench tool used to remove the towers, so you'd have to carry that with you along with the keys. You'd have to unlock each tower then use the tool to loosen the clamps on each one. Might take 5-10 minutes tops. Same for putting it back on. Once its all assembled it won't be too bad you just need to take note of exactly where the clamps go and make sure you hit that exact spot each time.
