Trike Carrier Recommendation for Vehicle that is Getting Flat Towed

Published 03/18/2026

Question:

I have a class a motorhome and tow a Jeep Wrangler. I want to get a Letric trike but not sure if I can use the Hollywood hitch rack on my Jeep. Would it clear the spare tire if I don’t use the bike part and just the trike mount?

Hey Jim, I have a solution for you but the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack for 1 Electric Trike and 1 Electric Bike # HLY87RR that you referenced actually can't be used at the rear of a vehicle that is getting flat towed as flat towed vehicles have a tendency to sway back and forth as they try to track behind the motorhome which puts additional stress on the rack. So instead we have the Lets Go Aero TriQuad Bike Rack for Trikes # LGA35ZR which is rated for use at rear of flat towed vehicle and it actually has more clearance to fit past the rear spare of your Wrangler as well so you wouldn't have to worry about any clearance issues there. How fast does the Lectric trike go? Can it do a wheelie?

I believe the Lectric trike goes 19 mph. No wheelies. Can supports be added from the rack to the spare tire to help stabilize the rack. $1,300 for the other rack is crazy expensive. The trike doesn’t cost much more than that.

@Jim There might be a way to add additional support to the rack like maybe even just using a stabilizer strap from the top of the rack (or bike) to the vehicle to help but that's not really something we can give specific instructions on. Bummer about the wheelies haha but maybe it's for the best.
