Updated 03/18/2026 | Published 03/14/2026

Question:

Hi. I have a travel trailer with a Dometic Duo Therm AC unit that is ducted through the ceiling. It is 13,500 btu. It appears these are no longer available. Im wondering what would be compatible to replace my AC unit.

Welcome back, Josh!

Is this still going on to your 2009 Keystone Passport Ultralite 285RL travel trailer? Even if it isn't, I have a few good options listed below.

These first two are from Advent and will do a good job of cooling everything down. They aren't the quietest ACs on the market, but their prices are hard to beat.

Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System - Single Zone - 13,500 Btu - White - R32 # ADV95SR
Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System - Single Zone - 15,000 Btu - White - R32 # ADV92SR

These next two are from Furrion. They make the quietest ACs on the market and they are very efficient. They are a little more expensive, but I think it's worth it.

Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System - Single Zone - 13,500 Btu - White - R32 # FR35TD
Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System - Single Zone - 15,000 Btu - White - R32 # FR83TD

All of these AC units are also white as I think that makes the most sense (black absorbs heat and will make the AC run more often in my opinion). All of these are also full replacements (none of the new stuff is compatible with anything made prior to 2025, so you will need a full system) and include a wall mounted thermostat, an air distribution box, and a roof top unit. All can be used with a ducted or ductless set up as well. Plus these all have built-in start capacitors, which makes any of these a great choice for low voltages and generator applications.

If it were me doing this, I would go with a 15,000 Btu unit as it will cool the camper more efficiently. With your camper being on the smaller side though, I think you could get away with either option and still be perfectly fine.

Are you getting ready for a trip? Where you headed if you are?
