Question:

My car has a cigarette lighter jack in the trunk compartment. Could that be used for the power instead of having to run the wire all the way to the battery ? Thank you

Hi Johnny! That 12V outlet in the trunk compartment is not designed for that kind of power draw. You have to run the # C44NR hot lead directly to the battery. I understand, it would definitely be easier, but you risk overdrawing the circuit and damaging your vehicle wiring. The good news is you will only have to do this one time and it's done.

Yes mostly for a hitch mount bike rack. Would like to also two a very small lightweight trailer all under 800 pounds

@Johnny if you need a hitch then I would make sure to get the Class III # C27RJ with the 2" receiver. That will give you the most options for bike racks.

@RobinH Well I actually already have the Kuat NV 2.0 hitch in 1-1/4 mount. So I’m eying that size.
