Does the Curt Wiring Harness C56332 Need to Be Grounded When Installed on a 2018 Kia Sedona?

Updated 03/09/2026 | Published 03/04/2026

Question:

I have a 2018 kia Sedona lx I installed the matching wiring kit but am not getting any power. I saw that the kit doesnt come with a grounding wire. Is the ground already pre-done within the car or does it ground by drilling the harness into a metal support beam with the screw provided.

Hey Evan, welcome back. The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness item # C56332 is going to be grounded through the factory wiring you plug the connector into on your 2018 Kia Sedona. The screw is to secure the converter underneath your van.

I recommend checking the 10 amp fuse that came with the Curt item # C56332 to see if it's seated correctly into the in-line fuse holder. If it's good you'll want to look at your van's fuse box and make sure any towing fuses required are actually present. The manufacturer's like to leave those out to save money.

If the fuses are all good, you'll want use a circuit tester like item # PTW2993 to see if that factory wiring harness has power going to it. If you have power going to the port the converter box on the Curt item # C56332 might be bad.

Are all your fuses good?

I installed an e-trailer connector on a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe. It worked the first time and working well for over a year. I did check the fuses after installation. Hyundai does have a fuse for the trailer lights in the panel.
