Question:
Hi. I bought a prodigy p3 brake controller from you already a while ago and have found when I went to install today that I stupidly did not realize this van I bought doesnt have the actual tow package so the under dash wires do nothing. It is seemingly wired up for the rv/7 pin I need at the hitch using something like this: Curt 55540 but how can I add the prodigy p3 into that from the driver footwell?

Hey Brandon. The Curt item # 55540 is just a 4-way connector. To use a brake controller like the Prodigy P3 you'll also need a 7-way connector. If you don't have one I recommend the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller item # ETBC7.
The item # ETBC7 kit includes a pre-wired 7- and 4-way trailer connector that mounts easily at the rear of your van with an included bracket. This kit is designed for use on a vehicle, like yours, with an existing 4-way flat trailer connector and plugs directly into it.
You will then connect the blue wire to the blue wire on your P3 brake controller by running it up to the cab, connect the black wire to the positive post on your van's battery, the white wire to a suitable ground, and the yellow wire to the accessory circuit. This will provide you with the ability to control your trailer's brakes and also provide you with a 12v power wire for you trailer's battery. This kit includes all the wiring, connectors, and circuit breakers you'll need.
To install your Prodigy P3 you'll need to use the universal wiring harness that was included. The black wire will go to a 12v power source, the white wire to a suitable ground, the red wire to the cold side of the brake light switch that only has power when the brake is pressed, and the blue wire to the blue wire on the item # ETBC7 or your 7-way connector.
I linked a wiring diagram below so you can see what I'm talking about. If you already have a 7-way and can't find where the blue brake controller wire is ran to your cab you can use a few feet of the 10 Gauge Wire - Blue Primary - item # 10-1-1. You'll want to connect the wire to the 7 o'clock pin on the 7-way if you're looking from the front or the 5 o'clock pin if you're looking at the back of the 7-way with the screws.
Does your van have a 7-way connector and do you style have the universal wiring harness that came with the P3?
