Is 2023 Chevy Traverse With Adaptive Cruise Control Difficult To Set Up For Flat Towing

Updated 02/20/2026 | Published 02/17/2026

Question:

I am looking to buy a 2023 chevy traverse premier front wheel drive. It has adaptive cruise. How difficult is setting up for flat tow. I have a roadmaster all terrain towbar and installed everything on my 2017 GMC Acadia myself with no issue. we use a RVI portable brake.

Hi Samuel; setting up your 2023 Traverse will be similar to setting up your 2017 Acadia. The adaptive cruise control doesn't add a lot to the steps when installing the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM65MR. See the photos below.

Wiring will be similar, you can use the Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-15267. A battery disconnect # RM-766 is also required which you wouldn't have had on the Acadia.

You can use the Curt RVi Series TBC+ # RVI74FR if you want it to connect with your command center or Bullseye monitor depending on the exact brake system. Or you can use a simple charge line # RM-156-25.

Where are you headed once you get the Traverse ready to go?
