Could Bright Way Trailer Breakaway Kit # 3802339 Be Used to Power Interior Lights
Updated 03/04/2026 | Published 02/06/2026 >
Question:
I have an enclosed cargo trailer with a current working brakeawy system. Do you think it would be possible to add this one as well, utilizing the battery charging circuits but using the output as a brake locker, but wired to internal trailer lights? End game, leave the woring brakeawy as is and add this one to operate lights in the trailer.

Hey Tommy, the Bright Way Trailer Breakaway Kit # 3802339 that you referenced could be used for what you are looking for as it's basically just a 5 amp hour battery in a battery box that's wired to be charged from a 7-way trailer connector. But you should note it's only a 5 amp battery so hopefully the lights are LED and there's not a ton of them.

Hey Tommy, how did things go using the Bright Way breakaway kit to power your trailer lights? I'm curious if the 5‑amp battery gave you enough runtime with your LED setup. Your results could help others trying a similar wiring approach.
