Is 2" Spacer Appropriate for Firestone Air Bags on 2025 Silverado 1500 ZR2

Updated 02/03/2026 | Published 01/31/2026

Question:

Spacer use with a 2025 Silverado 1500 ZR2. I have these installed with the 2inch spacer that was recommended in the QandA. It seems like this has negatively affected the ride over bumps due to losing 2inch of travel. For example, hitting a speed bump is felt alot more even without pressure in the airbags because the suspension will bottom out 2inch sooner. I am thinking the spacers need to be removed but I am worried about over-stretching the airbags when the suspension is in full droop. In the attached pictures you can see the suspension at normal ride height with about 5inch of compression available before the air spring will bottom out. The other picture is with the rear wheels lifted off the ground by the frame which leaves about 7inch before bottom out. I understand that due to just the thickness of the mounting brackets there will be about an inch or so of suspension travel loss. That would leave about 9-9.5 inches of travel at the rear. Will these air bags be able to handle that much stretching? If not, are there others that would work better? The truck is in stock except for the airbags. Order number is 124023335.

Hi Justin; can you tell me the distance between your upper and lower brackets? If it is 7-1/2" to 8-1/2" between your upper and lower brackets technically the # F2366 are correct. If the measurement is 6-1/2" and 7-1/2" you actually need the # F2536 instead. Regardless, you could switch to the shorter spacers to prevent the bottoming out you have experienced.

To answer your question about the air bags being able to handle stretching yes, they can take it if you pulled the spacers. Firestone air bags are by far the strongest option out there, to the point you don't even have to remove them if you throw the truck up on a lift.
