Updated 01/31/2026 | Published 01/28/2026

Question:

Hello, I am compiling a list for items to flat tow a 2025 Ford F-150 behind motor home. Looking at Hopkins HM77VR plug n play wiring kit, but I cant locate the new brake light relay required for this vehicle that does not have a brake light switch, It has a module. Ill be using a RM proportional type brake system. Can you give me the Hopkins brake light relay number and info? Thanks

Hey Jay! Hopkins is for sale right now since they're part of First Brands which went bankrupt. We don't actually know when the Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit # HM77VR will be back, and we don't have that relay either. Even if we did have it, I highly recommend using the Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-15267 instead.

Roadmaster has the most reliable wiring which is exactly what you want when you're flat towing. You will also want a 6-way, which this includes, so you can add a charge line # RM-156-25 to keep your battery from dying on your trips.

Do you have air brakes on your motorhome? The Roadmaster BrakeMaster # RM-9160-900002 you were looking at is designed for air brakes. If you have hydraulic brakes you need # RM-9060-900002 instead. For the relay you can use the # RM-88400 and you will also need the seat adapter # RM-88316 and stop light switch # RM42MR (if you have adjustable pedals) or # RM89ZR (non-adjustable).

Have you already picked out a base plate and tow bar?

We've used the BrakeMaster w/ Pressure Reducer for RVs w Air Brakes for almost a year now. with our 2024 Jeep. We travel for 7 months a year making numerous campground stops. The BrakeMaster w/ Pressure Reducer for RVs w Air Brakes system is easy to connect. Our Jeep has assisted brakes so the proportioning valve installation required a few attempts to get the sensitivity of the brakes properly adjusted. The system works great and ETrailer's support was fantastic.
