Can TorkLift PowerArmor Locking Battery Box Be Installed on Top of the Trailer Frame
Updated 07/01/2014 | Published 06/30/2014 >
Question:
Can this box be installed on top of the frame members instead of between the frame members? The reason Im asking is my small trailer does not have enough room for two batteries in the existing rack that is located between and below the front frame members. Ive been considering a rack, or a box like this, to mount on top of the frame, but I wasnt sure if there and any laws or rules regarding protection of batteries that required them to be inside the frame.

There are no laws I am aware of that would prevent you from mounting the TorkLift PowerArmor Locking Battery Box on top of the trailer frame. It would not hurt to contact the local DMV or state highway patrol office to confirm.
On a lot of trailers, the propane tanks are mounted up front and sometimes overhang the frame so I can't imagine that batteries contained in a secure steel or aluminum box would be any different.
