Troubleshooting Xantrex Pro XM 1800 Inverter E05 Error Code

Updated 02/10/2026 | Published 01/22/2026

Question:

I have an Xantrex Pro XM 1800 inverter it keeps sending a EO5 OL code. I have cleared it a few times but it keeps coming back. Also it is drying the house batteries. Is there a way to test or do I need to replace.

Hey Karl, while we don't carry the Xantrex Pro XM 1800 inverter I was able to find that the E05 error code indicates that there is an overload condition triggered by drawing too much power or poor ventilation, but can sometimes point to a short or low battery voltage.

Have you checked your setup for any of those issues? If nothing is wrong and your still getting that error I would assume the inverter is bad and needs to be replaced. We have a similar 1800 watt inverter with the part # GP94XR. This a really reliable inverter that will last longer than the Xantrex.

Hey Karl, did checking for overload or ventilation issues clear the E05 code on your Xantrex inverter? Knowing what fixed it could help others dealing with the same error. Your update could make it easier for the next person with this setup.

@JamesonC. No I found out it was the convertor not charging the batteries. so the inverter was discharging it
