Will Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Require Additional Fuse/Wiring for 2019 Cadillac Escalade Installation

Updated 01/23/2026 | Published 01/20/2026

Question:

hope to install a redarc26fr on my 2019 escalade. escalade has the 7 and 4 way factory plugs, but NOT the factory controller. Do I need to install a fuse /wiring from tow vehicle battery to Redarc 26fr? the blue brake wire at the 7 way has no power right now, just trailer lights.

Hi Dick, welcome back! You won't need anything extra to install the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty # RED26CR. The custom wiring harness will plug into the factory brake controller port for installation. This factory connector will already have the 12V power connection to the battery so once you finish the installation it will be ready to go.

You aren't seeing any power on the brake output at the 7-way because you don't have a brake controller right now. The Liberty will send power back to activate the brakes when it senses the vehicle slowing down or when you hit the manual override.

I went ahead and attached an installation video further down on this page for your reference.

@DickB it is the # RED26CR, same one from my original answer as well. The other part number is the replacement control knob wiring harness.

I have 2 vehicles that I installed the REDARC system on. I have been very pleased with the trailer brake controller system. I have installed it on my 2015 1500 and my ford F150. No regrets. Simple to install with the correct harness. Works well.
