From the research I found, the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze has a towing capacity of 1,000 lbs. The Curt Hitch, part # C11282, will work for you. This is a Class l hitch and has a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening. All non-trailer loads - bike racks, cargo carriers and so forth - should be supported with stabilizing straps like part # 18050. Failure to properly support these loads will void your hitch warranty from Curt.
To tow a trailer you will need ball mount # C45522, pin and clip # F-4, and a hitch ball. For a 1-7/8 inch ball I recommend part # C40001, and for a 2 inch ball I recommend part # C40018.
If you do not have the trailer connector at the rear of your Cruze I recommend the Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, part # 118508. This is a quick and easy way to provide a 4-way connector at the back of your vehicle by plugging directly into the vehicle existing wiring. You simply find the connection points in the trunk, plug in the T-connector, attach the ground wire and then run the hot lead to the car battery. I have attached a link to an installation video you can check out.
When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. this keeps dirt and moisture out of the connections and helps prevent corrosion.
