How to Get the Brake Lights to Work on a Trailer Being Pulled by a Motorcycle

Question:
Have 2018 Honda Goldwing DCT with a Motortrike conversion kit. We have a Aluma motorcycle trailer that we use. The problem we have is all the lights work except for the brake lights. Other riders have said a there is a conversion box available to resolve the problem.

Hey Richard, thanks for the pictures and all of the information! Your friends are 100% correct. The 2-to-3 Tail Light Converter item # 118158 is exactly what you need. Motorcycle wiring has the brake lights and turn signals on separate wires which is the opposite of trailer wiring which has them on the same circuit.
To install it, you'll need to find the combined left turn/brake wire, the combined right turn/brake wire, the running light (tail) wire, and the ground wire on your motorcycle's existing harness.
Connect Inputs (From Motorcycle):
Yellow (Input): Tap into the motorcycle's left turn/brake wire.
Green (Input): Tap into the motorcycle's right turn/brake wire.
White (Ground): Connect to a clean, bare metal part of the motorcycle frame (chassis) for a solid ground.
Connect Outputs (To Motorcycle Lights):
Yellow (Output): Connect this to the wire for your left turn signal.
Green (Output): Connect this to the wire for your right turn signal.
Red (Output): Connect this to the wire for your brake light (or a separate switch if needed).

Hey Richard, how did things go after you added the 2-to-3 tail light converter to your Goldwing with the Motortrike kit? Did it get the brake lights on your Aluma trailer working properly? Your update could make it easier for others with the same setup.
