Question:
The wiring connector in my 2014 Subaru Forester does not fit into the connector in the Curt 56040 kit. I can send photos of the 2 connectors. Please advise.

I verified with Curt that the trailer wiring harness you referenced, part # C56040, is indeed the correct fit for a 2014 Subaru Forester. It has happened that Subaru has changed the location for their vehicle's connectors. It is possible you are looking at a different connector.
If the plug is not located on the driver side of the cargo area beneath everything then it could be forward of that location, meaning you would need to loosen if not remove some of the side trim panels to gain access. I have also heard that on some models the harness is located at the rear of the vehicle on the passenger side. If you cannot find it in one of the usual locations then your local dealership should be able to tell you where the connector is located.
