Hey there Lauren, when a 50-amp RV’s power center starts to fail, common signs include batteries that never seem to fully recharge, lights dimming when multiple 12V loads are running, or DC systems behaving inconsistently even while plugged into shore power.

In many cases, the issue isn’t just the converter - it’s the combination of an aging converter, worn fuse connections, and tired AC distribution components. Replacing the entire unit with a modern power center like the PowerMax # PM77VR, which includes a 60-amp DC converter, often clears up all of those issues at once instead of chasing them individually. Now if you had degrading batteries, that would be a different issue, so I recommend getting those checked first!

What kind of RV do you have, and what issues are you having?

That sounds a lot like what I’m seeing. Lights dim when the water pump kicks on and the batteries never seem full.

@Lauren Yep, those are classic symptoms. If the batteries check out okay, that usually points back to the power center itself. At that stage, replacing the full unit with something like the # PM77VR is often the quickest way to get everything stable again instead of chasing individual components.
