Upgrading Power Dynamics 4500 Power Center With Lithium-Compatible Setup In 2016 Keystone Impact RV

Question:
Hi My name is Chris and I’m wanting to upgrade my power distribution box in my rv. I have a 2016 impact from keystone. The distribution box part number I believe is PD4590K18L. I do have 2 AC units so it is a 50 amp service. I’d like to get a smart distribution panel because I was wanting to upgrade to lithium batteries soon. Any suggestions would be great thank you! Chris

Hey Chris,
For your PD4590K18L, I recommend the Progressive Dynamics 4500 Series Power Center # PD4590K18LS8. This is the current 50-amp replacement with the same 90-amp converter output, so it will work well with the 50-amp service and dual A/C setup in your Keystone Impact.
The big upgrade is that this version has Progressive Dynamics' Charge Wizard and can be switched between lead-acid and lithium charging profiles, so you'll be ready when you make the move to lithium batteries. Since your trailer is a 2016, I would replace the complete power center rather than trying to update just the older converter section.
Are you planning to go with a single lithium battery or a larger multi-battery bank?

I’ll probably go with multiple larger bank batteries. So with the Progressive Dynamics 4500 Series Power Center # PD4590K18LS8 does it automatically detect the lithium battery or is there a switch that needs to be manually flipped to change the inverter to lithium?
