How Well Does Thomas Payne RV Jackknife Sofa Fabric Hold Up

Updated 01/16/2026 | Published 01/10/2026

Question:

How well does faux leather hold up? In my experience this type tends to start flaking. Trying to decide between this McCoy and the Dellmead fabric option for longevity.

Hi Tina; the Thomas Payne RV Jackknife Sofa and Kickboard - Fold Down - 62" Wide - McCoy # TP34AR uses a PolyHyde polyester which is specifically designed to combat the flaking you have experienced. It won't hold up forever, but it does tend to last a really long time (part of the reason they back it with a 7-year limited warranty) even with regular use.

You won't get any flaking with the Dellmead # TP22TR since it is woven fabric. However, you trade the easy cleaning and odor/stain resistance that you get with the PolyHide over the fabric. If you don't really run into issues with these things then the woven fabric is the better option. I have 3 kids and they like to spill on things so for me the PolyHyde would be better. Keep in mind, neither of these come with legs so if you need legs the # 195-000017 will also be required.

What kind of trailer do you have?

Can you clarify if McCoy is Grey or Brown? The jack knife couch says McCoy is grey and the dinette cushions list McCoy as brown. Do you have samples of fabrics/colors for sale?

@TinaV it is a gray, not brown. Unfortunately we do not have sample fabrics available.
