How Tall Would The P&F Enclosed Trailer Ladder Rack Sit Above The Trailer

Updated 01/12/2026 | Published 01/09/2026

Question:

I bought a used trailer and have a couple roof racks already on it and need another. I need to make sure height works with other racks installed. What is the measurement from the bottom of the bracket that connects to the side of cargo trailer to the the top of the cross bar? That is the only true way i know to match up height. Thanks for any help.

I got you, Steven!

I took a walk out to our warehouse to get what you needed for the P&F Enclosed Trailer Ladder Rack part # PF69VR. I also went ahead and got the pull length of the leg. From the bottom of the leg to the top of the cross tube it's 11-1/8". The full tube is 19-1/8". The bottom bracket that gets bolted to your trailer is 2" tall.

There are a few pictures below showing all the measurements for reference as well. Hope this helps and that this rack will work with what you already have.

Thank you so much for the reply! The info was great and exactly what i was wanting to know. Unfortunately the height i need is where the 11-1/8" height is from the bottom, I need to be 8" high. The bracket is perfect at 2" like my others but i will need a different height. Do you have any brackets that have the top of crossbars 8" from the bottom of the bracket. I guess I could have asked that directly the first time. Thanks again for any help with this issue.

@Steven You could use something like part # PK-28B. You can trim it down so that it sits lower closer to your trailer. You will have to make the crossbar with 2" x 6" or 2" x 4" pressure treated lumber.
