Will EcoHitch Front Hitch Install on 2018 Mercedes Sprinter 3500XD With DEF Tank

Question:

I’m interested in purchasing the Mercedes Sprinter – 2013-2022 – Front-Mounted Hitch Part Number: 306-X7352 for my 2018 Mercedes Sprinter 3500XD. I am concerned that the DEF Tank Mount Passenger Side will prevent the hitch Passenger Side Front Mount Bolt from installing properly. Please see attached photos. I watched the installation video, but it did not show the DEF Tank Mount. Does the installation account for this? Can you please send me a portion of the installation instructions that show how to handle the DEF Tank Mount?

Hey Joseph, great question! It definitely looks like it would be in the way but EcoHitch accounted for this when they designed the # 306-X7352. If you take a look at the picture below from the instructions you will see how that cutout in the bracket allows you to leave that mounting point in place.

Hey Joseph, how did things go with the EcoHitch front hitch on your Sprinter and the DEF tank mount? It’d be great to hear if that cutout in the bracket gave you the clearance you needed. Your update could make it easier for others working with the same setup.

The ecohitch cuttout does not align with the mount for the DEF tank. The DEF tank mount is secured at the same location as the front mounting hole on the hitch. I had to wedge the hitch in between the frame and the DEF tank mount then secure the DEF tank mount on top of the ecohitch.
