Hey Stacy, thanks for reaching out. If the heater fires up but you’re only getting lukewarm water, the first thing to check is the bypass setup behind the water heater. If those valves aren’t fully back in the “normal” position after winterizing, cold water sneaks into the hot line and knocks the temperature down. Same deal with the outside shower, if the hot and cold knobs out there are open but the sprayer is off, it mixes the water and everything inside turns lukewarm. Happens all the time.
After that, look at the heater itself. A weak electric element or a lazy propane burner can heat, just not hot. Mineral buildup in the tank can do it too. None of this is unusual on a 2009 Jay Flight, and most of it’s an easy fix once you spot the cause.
