Is there a Replacement Lithium Compatible Converter for a CS2000XL?

Updated 12/13/2025 | Published 11/23/2025

Question:

I have a 2003 Scamp 13 with a Centrurion 3000 power converter/charger inside marking indicates a CS2000XL 8a/20a. I want to switch to a LiFePO4 battery. Is there a direct replacement for the Centurion to charge a LiFePO4 12v 100AH? Or an add on to allow the Centurion to charge a LiFePO4 battery?

Hey Paul, welcome back! There's no direct replacement for your Centurion CS2000XL 8a/20a converter. I have two options for a replacement that will work with a LiFePO4 battery. I have listed them below:

The most comprehensive replacement option is going to be to remove your power center and install the Progressive Dynamics 4000 Series Mini RV Converter w/ Charge Wizard and AC/DC Distribution Panel item # PD4045KA. This will completely replace and upgrade your current power center. It has a 45 amp converter that is compatible with lithium batteries. It measures 12-1/4" long x 8-3/4" tall x 7-1/4" deep.

The second option will reuse your current power center and add in an external converter. I recommend the 45 amp Progressive Dynamics 9300 Series RV Converter Charger item # PD69RR. You'll need to find the breaker that is powering your CS2000XL 8a/20a converter and disconnect the wires of the converter from that circuit breaker. From there you'll need to run a new outlet on its own circuit breaker to wherever you plan on installing the item # PD69RR. It will not mount inside your power center.

Do you like to camp off-grid or are you just wanting more battery life?

You can add this information and any other questions you have where it says Reply to Jerred H and I'll be happy to answer them.

Hey Paul, how did things go with upgrading your Scamp’s power setup for the LiFePO4 battery? Did you end up going with the Progressive Dynamics 4000 Series or the external 9300 Series converter? Your results could really help others planning a similar switch.

@JerredH - Thank you for the info. For now I'm going to go with the original unit and use an AGM battery. If that is insufficient with experience, I'll upgrade to a new unit and a LIFEPO4 battery. Thanks again.
