Hello Mike, thanks for reaching out. The # 12-2-1 wire does have an outer jacket to help protect the wire, but the jacket material is not something that is specifically designed or advertised to be UV resistant. It is brake wire so intended to be run underneath a trailer frame, so the jacket is more designed to keep out moisture and prevent abrasions.
If you’re going to run this wire exposed to direct sunlight, I recommend adding UV-protective conduit or sleeving over the jacket just to be safe.
