Recommended 4-Bike Bike Rack that Works w/a Toyota Sienna

Updated 11/22/2025 | Published 11/20/2025

Question:

Hi. I have a 2008 Toyo Sienna with 2 hitch and want to get a bike rack that fits 4 bikes men, women, with fenders, and kids bikes. Easy-ish to load, can access trunk a bit, has locks included. I narrowed it down to this one, but want to make sure there isnt a better option first? We plan to be driving on forest service roads and hoping to get the most clearance possible, but I understand this will be compromised with a hitch and bike rack. Thanks! Hey Harry, you've done your research extremely well. I would recommend the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack for 4 Bikes item # HR1400Z. The 7" rise the shank provides is going to be vital for clearance on your Sienna.

The Hollywood Racks item # HR1400Z is really versatile as well. The padded hooks are going to work with all kind of bike styles and completely avoid the fenders. It has a 50 lbs per bike capacity and works with tires up to 3" wide. The built in locks will not only secure the bikes to the rack but the rack itself to your van's hitch.

I would have low expectations on getting your rear hatch open with the bikes on the rack even with the tilt feature. You will want to mount the heaviest bikes towards the front of the rack, closest to the van.

I've linked a demonstration video below that goes over the features of this bike rack. The video is done on a newer model Sienna so you're going to get a great idea of what exactly you're going to be working with.

What size are the tires on your kids bikes?

Great, thank you! They are 20” and 24”. Do I need any adapter? Please suggest any other rack I’d want to consider that meets all the same requirements, otherwise will purchase this one! Only other consideration I’m having is would a more vertical rack that loads bikes on frame allow for more ground clearance, albeit more of a pain to load? And how much clearance are we even talking about? Appreciate the help!

@HarryA You're welcome! You will not need the small wheel adapter with those tires. The Hollywood Racks item # HR1400Z will definitely work with 20" and 24" wheels. A vertical rack would work as well if your Sienna's hitch has a tongue weight capacity of at least 500 lbs. Not sure what brand hitch you own but the only have one for your Sienna that has a 500 lbs capacity is the Draw-Tite item # 75237. The Thule ReVert item # TH73VA is going to be the best option for a vertical rack. It's got a a shank with built in rise and 55 lbs per bike capacity. Since you have bikes with 20" and 24" wheels, you will need to purchase two of the Kid's Bike Adapter for Thule ReVert Bike Rack item # TH35VA. The Thule ReVert item # TH73VA includes a locking hitch pin but you'll need to purchase the Cable Lock for Thule ReVert Bike Rack item # TH55VA to secure the bikes to the rack. The only thing that would make a vertical rack like the ReVert item # TH73VA better than the Hollywood Racks item # HR1400Z is you'll be able to open your rear hatch with the tilt function.

@JerredH Ok awesome. Looks like Hollywood is more affordable, comes with everything I need included, and will work better with full fenders? So unless you think we’d gain considerable ground clearance, Hollywood it is! Appreciate the assist :)

@Harry The Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack item # HR1400Z is definitely going to be the most affordable option but you're not sacrificing any quality or features by saving money. It's going to completely avoid your bikes' fenders by attaching to the frames. You're not going to gain any clearance with the Thule ReVert item # TH73VA.
