Can The Roadmaster Tow Dolly Tow My 97' Jeep Wrangler With 35" Tires?

Updated 11/21/2025 | Published 11/18/2025

Question:

I have a 1997 Jeep wrangler sport. It has a lift kit and I am running 35inch x 12tires. The jeep has a straight 6cyl 4.0 with 5 speed manual transmission. Will this dolly be able to tow this jeep after modifications?

Hey Jamie,

First off that is a really clean 97' Wrangler! Secondly, the Roadmaster dolly # RM-2050-1 can tow a vehicle up to 4,250lbs, which should be plenty for your Jeep. If you load it up with anything you will want to keep that in mind. In terms of the tires, I am not sure what modifications you were planning on making but this dolly specifically can only fit tires up to 30 inches in diameter, and wheel width of no more than 77" from outer tire tread to outer tire tread. Based off of your current tire size I am going to have to say this is not going to be able to tow it due to that.

That vehicle is flat towable, have you thought about going that route?

Yes I have thought about flat towing. I was just trying to decide between the two. Thanks for the reply.

@JamieH You are welcome. If you want to let me know the coach you are going to be pulling the Jeep with I can get together a parts list for you to compare between the 2 while making your decision.
