Will CE Smith Multi Sport Plus Boat Trailer Work With Smoker Craft 14VFO Aluminum Fishing Boat?

Updated 12/01/2025 | Published 11/02/2025

Question:

Im looking to get a trailer to carry a Smoker Craft 14VFO aluminum fishing boat. Im not sure of the year of the boat, early 1990s, and all the information I could find calls it a 14ft boat. I measured it at just under 14.5 feet long and about 65 inches at the widest point. Would the CE48870 be capable of transporting/carrying this boat safely? Or would you have another trailer you could recommend instead? Additionally highway speeds where I am are 70mph. While trailering a boat I wouldn't plan to go faster than 65-70 but are the tires rated for highway speeds? I have a 2022 Nissan Frontier to pull it with. Thanks

Hello Rich, thanks for reaching out. The CE Smith Multi Sport Plus Boat and Kayak Trailer # CE48870 can absolutely work with a 14' boat. If the boat is just slightly over 14' that would not be a problem, you just might have to move the winch stand a bit farther up on the tongue to accommodate. As long as the boat does not exceed the 800 lb weight capacity you can carry it just fine with the CE Smith trailer. With the boat being aluminum, I imagine this will not be a problem.

The Tires that come on the trailer are rated for 65 mph. If you needed to go faster than that you can swap the tires out to the part # TT48012C which is the same size but rated for 81 mph instead.

Do you mostly fish on lakes or do a bit of river running too? I don't quite recognize the body of water in your picture.

Hey Rich, how did things go with the CE Smith trailer for your Smoker Craft boat? Did the fit and tire setup handle well at your usual highway speeds? Your update could make it easier for others hauling similar aluminum boats.
