Recommend Trunk Bike Rack for a 2021 Mini Cooper Hatchback

Hi there, Im looking for a way to transport my bike on my 2021 mini cooper hatchback. It doesnt have a hitch or roof rails, so Im thinking the easiest option is to do a trunk rack. Ive never used this option before and my bike is heavy - about 30 lbs Id only be hauling this one bike, though. Can you direct me to what you think would be the best option? Im looking for easy use, a secure fit for long drive, and quality. I appreciate any help you can give! Thanks!

Hey Jennifer! The best bike rack for your 2021 Mini Cooper hatchback is going to be the Thule OutWay Platform Trunk Bike Rack item # TH65JV. This is by far our easiest trunk style bike rack to get set up. The top two hooks are going to attach at the top of your rear door where it meets the body of your Mini. It's got quite a bit of padding and rubber over the metal pieces so you won't have to worry about scratching your car.
The Thule OutWay item # TH65JV has a 33 lbs capacity per bike and fits tires up to 3" wide. I prefer this bike rack over other hanging options like item # Y02634 because it's similar to a hitch mounted one. Instead of dangling from the back your bike actually sits on top of a platform and is secured by a set of rotating padded clamps. The clamps can attach to the frame, seat post, or handle bar post. This style completely eliminates the protentional need of installing a adapter bar like item # RRRBCA021 to secure the bike.
Not sure how tall you are but if you're concerned about height, when installed the platform is going to be a couple inches above the bottom of your back glass.
We haven't had a chance to test this ourselves on a Mini but I have linked a demo video and a couple pictures so you can see the functions of the Thule OutWay item # TH65JV demonstrated. This will give you a great idea of what to expect when you use this on your car.
