Updated 11/05/2025 | Published 10/31/2025

Question:

Im looking for a spare tire with the rim my question is if I my current tires have a C rating and a PSI 50lbs would I have any issues if my spare was D rated with a higher PSI? Thank you

Hi John!

Though you want the spare to match the rest of your tires/wheels, having a different load range isn't really going to hurt anything. I would have said differently if it was a completely different tires size.

However, the tread wear will be different as different load ranges will behave differently under load, so do keep that in mind.

What size are your tires? We likely have one that will match what you currently have.

I did find and just received my tire all numbers and letters match. Just in the nick of time I leave Friday for a road trip. Earlier this year my maiden from Pennsylvania to Florida round trip I took my chances without a spare I’m not doing that again. Thanks for the information I really appreciate it. John
